Butler's Barry Keane and Jesse Hamlin earned bids to compete against the top runners in the country at the 2023 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
The NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Committee announced the participants late on the evening of Tuesday, Feb. 28.
Butler is one of only seven programs to have runners qualify for the men's 5,000 and 3,000-meter races. They stand among elite company including BYU, Northern Arizona, Oklahoma State, Washington, Stanford, and Tennessee.
The championships will be hosted by the University of New Mexico at the Albuquerque Convention Center March 10 and 11 in Albuquerque, N.M.
Keane will compete in the 5,000 meters for the second consecutive season. The race is scheduled to start on Friday, March 10 at 10:05 p.m. (Eastern).
Earlier this season, Keane topped his previous school record on Dec. 3 at the Boston University Sharon Colyear Danville Season Opener. His mark of 13:21.57 currently ranks ninth in an elite field of 16 runners.
Tennessee's Dylan Jacobs heads into the race with the top time at 13:11.01.
Keane placed 11th at the 2022 NCAA indoor championships meet against one of the most decorated fields in the championship's history.
In the 3,000 meters, Hamlin will represent the Bulldogs beginning on Saturday, March 11 at 10 p.m. (Eastern).
His mark of 7:44.69 from the same meet in Boston helped secure the final spot in the 16-runner field. Hamlin also scratched seven seconds off the school record in the event.
Northern Arizona's Drew Bosley currently holds the top 3,000 meter time at 7:36.42.
