INDIANAPOLIS – The Bulldogs earned a 3-2 win over visiting Northwestern on Monday afternoon. BU scored a solo run in the bottom of the first inning and added two more in the fourth to come out on top.
Dawson Taylor was credited with the win (1-1) and
Jon Vore tossed four innings to get his first save of the year.
Vore was lights out over the final four innings of action. He struck out four of the 11 batters he faced and did not give up a hit. Butler put
Alex Voss on the mound for the start, but Voss left the mound in the third after seeing the team trainer. Before exiting the game, Voss limited the Wildcats to just two hits and kept Northwestern off the scoreboard.
Carter Dorighi was responsible for the first hit of the day for Butler and he would come around to score on an RBI single from
Lukas Galdoni.
In the fourth,
Joey Urban would single to center allowing
Cade Vota to score.
Carter Dorighi also singled to right, which led to
Kyle Van Liere scoring a run.
Dorighi went 2-for-4 from the dish an RBI and a run scored. Teammate
Jake DeFries led BU with three of the team's seven hits on Monday afternoon.
The Bulldogs are now 3-15 on the season and Northwestern moves to 1-13. The Bulldogs will return to action tomorrow with a 4 PM start vs. Eastern Michigan.
