CINCINNATI –
Kollyn All hit a three-run home run for Butler in the eighth inning to give BU an 8-5 win over Cincinnati in the first game of today's doubleheader, but the Bearcats would win the nightcap 13-3.
BU collected their fifth win of the season in game two of the series with an exciting finish.
Kollyn All homered to left center in the fifth to put BU in front 3-1, but a four-run frame in the fifth by Cincinnati would give the home team a 5-3 advantage.
Kyle Van Liere hit a two-RBI double to left center in the seventh to tie the game at 5-5 and All won the game in the eighth with his three-run home run.
All had four RBI in the win.
Garret Gray, Van Liere and
Joey Urban also helped BU score runs.
Jon Vore got the win in game one (1-1) and
Aaron Barokas was credited with the save (2). In game two, Barokas would pitch the first inning. BU put four additional arms on the hill after, but were ultimately defeated 13-3.
Van Liere homered in the fourth to get BU within a run at 4-3, but the Bearcats ran away with a five-run fifth inning. Sponseller and Vidourek each homered to generate runs.
Carter Dorighi went 2-for-3 for the Bulldogs with a run scored. RBIs belonged to Van Liere,
Cade Vota and
Evan Parks.
Butler will return to action on Tuesday, March 28 with a single game at Notre Dame. First pitch is set for 5 PM.
