The Bulldogs will take on the Musketeers to open Big East play on Saturday. Both teams look to get over .500 in their first-ever matchup. 

Bulldog Bits 

  • Maggie Zentgraf is in her first season as head coach at Butler. She previously coached at Division III Lake Forest, going 11-4 in the program's first-ever season.  

  • The Bulldogs went 6-9 in the 2022 season, setting a program-record in wins. 

  • With her goal versus Eastern Michigan, Campbell Connors is now the program's all-time leader in career goals with 66.  

  • Butler enters this matchup on a two-game win streak, coming out with a 11-9 win on Saturday versus Detroit Mercy and a 14-13 win over Eastern Michigan on Sunday  

  • Leah Rubino earned Big East Weekly Honor Roll this past week (3/27). Rubino had 11 goals over two games and set a program record for goals in a single game with seven against Eastern Michigan. She is also fourth in the nation in shot percentage (.656) as of Tuesday. 

  • Caroline Smith has had two straight games with 10+ saves. 

  • As of Tuesday, Butler ranks second in the Big East in draw controls per game with 15.75. 

Last Time Out 

Butler's last game saw the Bulldogs win a nail biter, 14-13, against Eastern Michigan on March 26. Kate Kaptrosky scored the go-ahead goal with 35 seconds left to play. Leah Rubino led the Dawgs with a program-record seven goals in the contest. 

Scouting Xavier 

  • This is the first ever meeting between Butler and Xavier as well as Xavier's first Big East game. 

  • The Musketeers have 20 freshmen on their roster. 

  • As of Tuesday, Xavier ranks first in the Big East in shot percentage at .454 percent. They are also second in caused turnovers per game with 9.88. 

  • The Musketeers last game resulted in a 22-2 loss to 15th-ranked Michigan on March 26.
