Bulldogs Finish Sixth at BIG EAST Women’s Golf Championship

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – Butler closed out the season with a sixth-place finish at the 2023 BIG EAST Women's Golf Championship Presented by JEEP at the Riverton Pointe Country Club in Hardeeville, S.C.
 
The Bulldogs improved in each of the tournament's three rounds, posting a score of 315 (+27) in Wednesday's final round. Butler opened the event with rounds of 349 and 320 for a total of 984 (+120).
 
Freshman Kelli Scheck was the top-placing Bulldog, finishing 23rd with a total of 243 (+27). She shot 83 in Wednesday's final round. Cybil Stillson's 77 Wednesday moved her total to 246 (+30) and 24th on the leaderboard. After sitting out the first two rounds, Madalin Small subbed into the line-up for the final 18 holes and shot a round of four-over 76.
 
Xavier placed four golfers in third through sixth place and captured its fourth straight BIG EAST Women's Golf Championship. The Musketeers posted a team score of 893 (+29). They earn the BIG EAST's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.  
 
Georgetown was the runner-up in the team standings with a 54-hole score of 908 (+44). Creighton took third place with a team score of 918, 11 strokes behind Georgetown.
 
Creighton sophomore Katherine Lemke became the first golfer in league history to earn medalist honors for two straight years. She shot a 3-over 219 (79-67-73) and held off Georgetown's Gabriella Gilrowski by two strokes to earn the conference's individual NCAA automatic qualifier. Lemke tied the BIG EAST Championship record with a 5-under 67 in the second round. Gilrowski shot an even-par 72 in the final two rounds and finished 5-over 221.
