The Butler track and field team split up to compete at two different meets this weekend. 
Six student-athletes traveled to St. Louis, Mo. for the Washington University Distance Carnival on Saturday while the rest of the team took a short ride down to Terre Haute, Ind. for the Pacesetter Invitational on Sunday. 

The Bulldogs kicked off the meet at Wash U with a podium finish in the women's 5,000 meters. Morgan Werner placed third at 16:43.04 to crush her personal best by over 10 seconds. 

Nick Doud also finished a solid performance setting a new personal best in the men's 10,000 meters, shaving 30 seconds off his lifetime best. 

At the Wash U Invite, Isaac Kane led the way in his 2023 outdoor track debut by winning the men's 400-meter dash at 47.90. 

Jenna Doezema earned second in the women's 400-meter hurdles. Her mark of 1:05.77 set a new personal best. 

Reagan Kelly and Elsa Rusthoven rounded out the top finishes in third. Kelly clocked in at 1:00.57 for the 400-meter dash, while Rusthoven earned a new lifetime best in the 1,500 meters at 4:39.25. 

Other Notable Performances 
  • Abby Fostveit came in fourth in the women's 1500 at 4:40.20 to earn a new personal best
  • Max Wilhelm earned fourth in the men's 110 hurdles at 14.95
  • Joey Gareis finished fourth in the triple jump at 13.86 meters
  • Grace Stedge set a new lifetime best in the 400 meters dash at 1:01.64 to place fifth 
  • Molly Kracht placed fifth in the women's javelin throw with a distance of 35.08 meters
  • Drew Herman earned fifth in the men's high jump at 1.95 meters

The Bulldogs will regroup this week and prepare for their next meet at the Fighting Illini Challenge on Saturday, Apr. 8, in Urbana-Champaign, Ill.
