INDIANAPOLIS – The Eastern Illinois Panthers defeated Butler 12-0 on Saturday afternoon to improve to 15-7 on the year. EIU scored at least one run in seven of the eight innings played to earn the victory.
Tyler Conklin was awesome on the mound for the Panthers. He limited BU to just two hits over seven full innings of baseball while striking out seven Bulldogs. Jaskson Nichols came in for the final inning of work and struck out two.
The loss fell to
Cory Bosecker (0-5). The BU ace threw five innings before handing the ball off to
Luke Zmolik for the final three.
BU only came up with three hits in the outcome while allowing 13.
Carter Dorighi,
Keegan Connors and
Evan Parks were the three 'Dawgs with a hit.
For EIU, Nicholas Rucker and Jared Evans homered late in the game. Ryan Ignoffo, Cole Gober and Robby Taul also added extra base hits.
These two teams will play a doubleheader on Sunday at Coaches Stadium. Action on ESPN+ will get started at 1 PM (12 PM Central).
