CINCINNATI – Butler hit two solo home runs at Xavier on Friday afternoon, but those would be the only two hits of the game for the Bulldogs. Musketeer starter Brant Alazaus tossed eight full innings to record the win and Clay Schwaner came in for the ninth to collect the save.
 
Kollyn All got Butler on the scoreboard in the fourth inning with a two-out, solo home run to center. In the fifth, Ryan O'Halloran would lead off the frame with a solo shot to left.
 
All six runs in the game came from the long ball. DePrey homered to center in the first and McCormick homered to right to double the Xavier lead in the second. The third Musketeer homerun was a two-run swing to right center from Cushing.
 
Cory Bosecker got the start for the Bulldogs and tossed six innings before exiting the mound for Dawson Taylor. Bosecker struck out six and only walked one. He only allowed four hits, but three left the diamond. Taylor was solid in relief. He limited Xavier to just one hit over two frames while striking out two.
 
The final game of the series will be played tomorrow at 1 PM.
