Butler Women's Golf Finish Third at Falcon Invitational

The Bulldogs posted a third-place finish in the team's final tune-up prior to the 2023 BIG EAST Golf Championships.
 
Butler spent Friday and Saturday at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational hosted by Bowling Green in Ohio.
 
Toledo took the team title with back-to-back scores of 302 for a 604 total. Loyola was second at 615, which was one shot better than the Bulldogs. There were 10 teams in the field. After an incorrect signed scorecard from one of the Toledo players was thrown out overnight, Butler entered the final round with a one-shot lead in the standings.
 
After shooting 301 Friday at Stone Ridge Golf Club, the Bulldogs shot 315 Saturday in tougher conditions.
 
Freshman Lily Celentano paced the Bulldogs with a 36-hole total of 151 following rounds of one-over 73 Friday and a 78 Saturday. She finished in a tie for sixth.
 
Celentano entered Saturday's final round tied with Loyola's Grace Suter and Toledo's Amelia Lee for the individual lead. Those two both shot two-over 74s Saturday to tie for individual medalist honors.
 
Madalin Small, playing as an individual, shot a two-over 74 Saturday and finished in a tie for tenth at 152 (+8).
 
Kelli Scheck's back-to-back rounds of 77 gave her a total of 154 (+10) and placed her in a tie for 15th. Cybil Stillson tied for 17th at 155, followed by Katie Steinman and her total of 156; Steinman tied for 20th. Alaina Bowie tied for 39th (160).
 
The BIG EAST Championships begin Monday, April 17 at Riverton Pointe in Hardeeville, S.C. The 54-hole event runs through Wednesday, April 19.
