Butler Men Fifth, Women Seventh as BIG EAST Outdoor Championships Concludes

Villanova, Pa. — The Butler track and field team closed out the final day of the Big East Outdoor Championships on Saturday.  

Angelina Ellis was honored as the BIG EAST Female Track Athlete of the Year. Ellis won every race she entered in during the Big East Indoor and Outdoor Championships this year, including the DMR, 3,000 meters and 3,000-meter steeplechase. 

Simon Bedard secured second in the men's 1,500 meters at 3:45.02 to earn All-Big East Honors. 
 
The men's 4x100 relay quartet of Ben Bradley, Drew Herman, Michael Beros and Jimmy Davis finished fourth at 42.70. In the 4x800 relays, Carter Schorr, Nate Lantz, Matthew Forrester and Liam Dennis also placed fourth at 7:39.16. 
 
Max Wilhelm scored points for Butler earning fifth in the men's 110-meter hurdles at 15.12. 

On the women's side the team of Morgan Walsh, Katherine Olsen, Abby Fostveit and Mia Beckham clocked in at 8:57.29 to finish sixth. 

Rounding out the Butler student athletes who earned points were Zac Stanley in the men's 400 meters (seventh, 48.60) and Jenna Doezema (seventh, 1:03.19). 

The Bulldogs with top qualifying times will have a week off before heading to Jacksonville, Fla. for the NCAA Division I East Regions from May 24-27.
