NCAA Academic Progress Report Showcases Continued Success for Butler Student-Athletes

| By:

Butler student-athletes continue to excel in the classroom based on the most recent Academic Progress Report (APR) data, released by the NCAA Tuesday, May 2. The Bulldogs had seven programs earn perfect 1,000 APR scores for the 2021-22 academic year.

The Butler programs that earned a perfect APR score for the 2021-22 academic year are men's tennis, women's cross country, women's golf, women's lacrosse, women's swimming, women's tennis, and women's track and field. An additional four teams scored 990 or better: men's cross country, men's track and field, softball, and women's soccer.

Butler's women's golf and women's tennis programs are among an exclusive list of approximately 60 teams nationally that have earned Public Recognition Awards in each year of the program.

The APR announcement comes on the heels of Butler's continued graduation success.

Butler posted a Graduation Success Rate of 93 percent in the most recent announcement by the NCAA, which came in November. Figures released reflect graduation numbers among student-athletes who entered college in 2015. It was the second consecutive year that the Bulldogs posted a 93 percent mark, matching Butler's best annual percentage in the history of the GSR, which began with the cohort of student-athletes who entered college in 1998.

Each academic year, every Division I sports team across the country calculates its APR using a simple and consistent formula. Each term, scholarship student-athletes can earn 1 point for remaining eligible and 1 point for staying in school or graduating. For schools that do not offer scholarships, recruited student-athletes are tracked. The Academic Performance Program has established an essential framework for academic excellence. The program provides measurable goals to ensure schools are fulfilling their commitment of equipping student-athletes with the tools and resources necessary to achieve academic success.
