WASHINGTON D.C. – Butler limited Georgetown to just two hits on Saturday night to pick up a 5-3 BIG EAST road victory.
Cory Bosecker tossed five innings to get the win and
Clay Holzworth was sensational out of the bullpen for three innings allowing the 'Dawgs to even the series at 1-1.
Bosecker only allowed one hit over his five innings to go along with six strikeouts and one run. Holzworth would take the game ball for the next three innings and no-hit the Hoyas. Georgetown made a little noise in the ninth with a two-run home run, but
Cole Graverson would close the door on any type of comeback threat.
Butler got on the scoreboard first with an RBI single from
Scott Jones that scored
Carter Dorighi. They enjoyed a 3-0 advantage after three innings and each club would score a single run in the fifth.
BU scored an unearned run in the eighth to increase their lead to 5-1 and the late homer from D'Acunto took us to our final score of 5-3. Angelo D'Acunto and Owen Carapellotti had the only Hoya hits while the Bulldogs got four hits and three runs from Dorighi in the win.
Joey Urban and
Kollyn All each had an extra base hit for Butler. All and
Evan Parks would join Jones with an RBI on the evening.
Butler won a BIG EAST weekend series over Seton Hall in late April and they will look to do the same tomorrow against Georgetown at Washington Nationals Youth Academy. The getaway game to decide the series will start at 1 PM.
