Barry Keane Earns Second Big East Men’s Track Athlete of the Week Honors of the Season

| By:
Barry Keane received his second BIG EAST Men's Track Athlete of the Week honors of the season. The announcement was made in the afternoon by the conference office on Tuesday, May 9.

At the On TrackFest in Walnut, Calif., Keane clocked in at 13:27.83 in the 5,000 meters, where he was the only collegiate runner in the race. The graduate student registered the best time in the event among all BIG EAST runners and ranks sixth among all NCAA Division I competitors.

This is Keane's seventh time receiving this award during his successful Bulldog career. He was nominated for the other weekly honors on Feb. 22 at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational after claiming the top 5,000-meter time during the indoor season in the Big East.

Three other Butler student-athletes have also earned the award this season, including Angelina Ellis (12/14, 3/29, 4/19), Jesse Hamlin (12/14) and Drew Herman (1/18).

Keane and the rest of the Bulldogs will prepare for the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships this weekend from Thursday, May 11 to Saturday, May 13 in Villanova, Pa.
