Butler opened the 2023 season with a victory at Friday's Vic Godfrey Open hosted by UW-Parkside as the Bulldog women captured the title.

Wiktoria Klebowska and Abby Olson went 1-2 in the women's 4k race, propelling the Bulldogs to a team title. Klebowska and Olson crossed the line with times of 14:09.18 and 14:09.58, respectively. Butler was joined in the field by BIG EAST rival Xavier, with the Bulldogs taking the team title 27-35. Host UW-Parkside was third (91) in the 10-team field.
