The Butler men opened the 2023-24 season over the past two days, sending four individuals to the Colonel Shootout hosted by Eastern Kentucky in Richmond, Ky.
 
Sophomore Leo Zurovac tied for seventh at one-under 209. He posted a Friday 68 (-2) after Thursday rounds of 72 and 69.
 
Henry Quinn shot six-over 216 over the 54 holes on the University Club at Arlington course to finish tied for 33^rd. His performance was highlighted by an even-par 70 in Thursday's second round.
 
Kenny Leseur tied for 53^rd at 222 (+12). He shot rounds of 73, 76 and 73. Jack Wilcox shot a total of 224 (+14) and finished in a tie for 60^th. His three-over 73 Friday was his best 18 of the tournament.
 
With only four individuals in the field, Butler did not factor into the team competition, which was won by Belmont at three-under 837. Reeve Felner of Belmont took medalist honors by a four-stroke advantage at eight-under 202. There were 90 players in the field.
 
The Bulldogs will next be in action at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational hosted by Ball State Sept. 9-10.
