INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler swim team will open the 2023 season by hosting the Butler Double Dual at Fishers High School (13000 Promise Rd, Fishers, IN 46038) on Sunday, Sept. 24. The meet will begin at 12 PM and include Xavier, St. Louis, Bellarmine and IUPUI.
 
The 2023-24 roster features 21 total student-athletes including four newcomers. Head Coach Maurice Stewart enters his 19th season at the helm of the program. Stewart will oversee a young team this year with just three seniors (Emily Landwehr, Jamie Gindorf, and Grace Crane) in the mix.
 
Emily Landwehr ranks second all-time at Butler in the 50 Free (23.62) and 100 Breast (1:04.89). She and Alani Hightower-Bend helped BU set multiple school records in relay events a year ago. Many of those records happened at the 2023 BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championship Meet in February to help the Bulldogs place sixth overall. In all, Butler set nine school records at the conference meet and Coach Stewart was recognized as Co-Coach of the Year along with Villanova.
 
The Butler Double Dual will be one of two meets that BU will host at Fishers. The 15th Annual Butler Invitational will take place on Jan. 28, one month before the start of the 2024 BIG EAST Championship Meet.
