@ButlerWLacrosse Adds Transfer to 2023-24 Roster

| By:

Head Coach Maggie Zentgraf has added one additional student-athlete to the Butler women's lacrosse program this fall prior to the upcoming spring season. Gabby Mahaffey, from Columbus, Ohio, is a junior transfer from Akron. She will be joining previously announced newcomers Ava Clemson, Ireland Costigan, Emily Eckert, Sophia Knoblock, and Mila Navarro.

Prior to her two seasons at Akron, Mahaffey was a four-year varsity letterwinner and three-year starter at Saint Francis DeSales where her team won a 2019 state championship along with multiple CCL and CIL championships. The team captain and senior-season MVP won All-State, All-Region, and All-Conference recognition, was a member of the 2021 Columbus Dispatch Super 12 Team, and won the 2021 Archie Griffin Sportsmanship Award. A midfielder in lacrosse, she also participated in soccer and served on student council. Her academic awards included Academic All-Ohio (2018-21), Honor Roll, National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, and Spanish Seal of Biliteracy. Mahaffey played her club ball for Resolute.

On choosing Butler: "I chose Butler because of the amazing team culture and academics."

Coach Zentgraff on Mahaffey: "Gabby brings with her a positive attitude, competitive mindset, and passion for the game. Gabby's high IQ, draw skills, speed, and grit in between the 30's will be a great addition to our midfield unit!"

Mahaffey is the daughter of Chris and Carolina Mahaffey and has two siblings, Caleb and Henry.
