QUEENS – St. John's limited Butler to 16 second half points on Wednesday night allowing the Red Storm to record a 60-42 victory. The Johnnies are now 11-8 on the year with a 5-2 mark in the BIG EAST. The Bulldogs move to 8-9.
St. John's hit their first three 3-point attempts on Wednesday night to open up an early 9-4 lead over Butler. The Bulldogs got a steal and a score from
Ari Wiggins to get their offense going, but it was the only made field goal for BU over the first five minutes of the contest.
Butler moved forward to win the first quarter 15-14.

Caroline Strande and
Karsyn Norman to get the Bulldogs in front.
St. John's regained the lead by the midway point of the second quarter and would own a 30-26 lead at halftime. The Johnnies made four of their last five field goal attempts to push their lead to seven late in the first half, but
Rachel Kent would add a 3-pointer for BU before the break to keep the deficit at four.
The Johnnies took control of the action in the third quarter outscoring BU 18-7 during that 10-minute stretch. The Red Storm ended the frame on a 12-2 scoring run to increase their lead to 48-33.
The STJ lead was trimmed to 10 less than two minutes into the fourth. Jaynes scored in the paint on Butler's first possession and Norman would hit a 3-pointer from the left wing that led to the Red Storm calling a timeout.
St. John's exited the huddle and scored the next six points of the ballgame to move their lead back up to 16 points. Ber'Nyah Mayo hit back-to-back shots to get the offense on track and Jailah Donald added a layup.
Butler went into a full court press over the closing minutes of the contest, but the Johnnies would handle the pressure and end the night with a 60-42 victory.
