@ButlerXCTF Shines Bright at the Butler Invitational

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. —
The Butler track and field team secured top finishes at the Butler Invitational. The Bulldogs hosted their first meet since 2018 inside the new track facility at the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavillion. 


Mid-Distance/Distance
The Bulldogs dominated the men's 800 meters claiming the top three spots. Jesse Hamlin secured the win at 1:49.25, and his mark is now the fifth fastest time in the NCAA. Liam Dennis (1:53.42) and David Slapak (1:53.73) finished side-by-side in second and third. 

In his Bulldog debut, Martin Kovacech led the way in the men's mile, winning the race at 4:13:08.

Joe Barrett set a new personal best in the men's 3000 meters with a time of 8:26.65 to earn second.

On the women's side, Abby Fostveit and Morgan Walsh take the top two spots in the women's 800 meters. Fostveit won the race at 2:16.10 while Walsh finished just behind at 2:17.97.

Renate Toldo crossed the line at 5:02.71 in the women's mile to secure second. In the women's 400 meters, Jenna Doezema registered a time of 58.36.

Sprints and Hurdles
Luke Finnegan and Ben Bradley went 1-2 in the men's 60 meters with Finnegan winning at 6.89 while Bradley posted a time of 6.97.

Jack Elder secured second in the men's 60m hurdles at 8.31. In the men's 200 meters, Troy Larrison placed second at 22.04.

Relays
The Butler men's and women's 4x400 teams completed the sweep winning both events. The quartet of Finnegan, Michael Beros, Gavin Cougle and Zac Stanley finished nine seconds ahead of the competition at 3:18.90.

The women's team led by Doezema, Reagan Kelly, Clara Reynolds, and Allie Minier also claimed the win at 3:56.88. 


Field
In the men's long jump, Cabott Craft reached the podium in third at 6.84 meters while Zac Stanley took fourth at 6.72 meters. Craft added on a second place finish in the men's triple jump with a distance of 13.66 meters. 

Luke Walden earned second in the men's pole vault with a time of 4.64 meters.

The Bulldogs will travel north for the Michigan Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich. from Jan. 26-27.
