Five Different @ButlerXCTF Athletes Claim Titles at the Michigan and IUPUI Invitationals

The Butler track and field team split up this weekend to compete at the Michigan Invitational in Ann Arbor Mich. and the IUPUI Invitational at the Indiana State Fair Grounds. 
 
Top performances by the Bulldogs included:
  • Jesse Hamlin was the highlight of the weekend after he set a new program record in the indoor mile on route to becoming the Michigan Invite Champion. His mark of 3:57.99 breaks Simon Bedard's record of 3:58.34 set in 2022.
  • Matthew Forrester earned the victory in the men's 3,000 meters after posting a 8:02.62. William Zegarski followed in fourth at 8:04.99. Both Forrester and Zegarski earned new lifetime bests.
  • Luke Finnegan took home the win in men's 200 meters at 21.45 to set a new personal best. 
  • Jack Elder won the men's heptathlon with a score of 5,222 points. He led the way in the 60 meters at 7.08, 1000 meters at 2:54.44 and shot put at 13.47 meters. 
  • Zac Stanley led all athletes in the men's long jump with a distance of 7.15 meters. 
  • Luke Walden placed second in the men's pole vault with a height of 4.83. 
  • The quartet of Finnegan, Gavin Cougle, Troy Larrison and Zac Stanley finished second in the men's 4x400 at 3:14.29. 
  • Wiktoria Klebowska claimed the last spot on the podium in the women's 3,000 meters at 9:27.19. Elsa Rusthoven crossed the line just behind her in fourth at 9:29.97 to set a new personal record.
  • In the women's 4x400, Jocelyn Davis, Reagan Kelly, Clara Reynolds, Jenna Doezema posted a time of 3:54.34 to take third in the event.
The Bulldogs will regroup and head to South Bend, Ind. for the Meyo Invitational beginning on Feb. 2.
