Will Horne utilized eight birdies Thursday in the final round of the Kapolei Invitational to post a score of 67 and ultimately climb into a tie for second.
The 54-hole tournament concluded Thursday at the Kapolei Golf Club on the island of O'ahu.
Horne's five-under 67 allowed him to climb 18 spots on the final leaderboard. He birdied five of the holes on the back nine of the 7,001-yard course. Horne's 67 followed back-to-back rounds of 73 to open the event. He was one of five players to finish at three-under 213, three shots off the pace of individual medalist Dane Huddleston of Utah Valley (210).
The Bulldogs recorded their best team round of the event in Thursday's final 18, shooting 292 (+4). For the event, Butler finished at 882 (+18). The Bulldogs moved up two spots in the team standings and finished in a tie for eighth among the 15-team field. Miami (Ohio) won the event at 857 (-7). The RedHawks were 13 shots better than San Diego.
