Bulldog Men Earn Fifth Consecutive Bid to NCAA Cross Country Championships

| By:
The Butler men's cross country team secured their spot in the 2024 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships. The announcement was made during the NCAA Selection Show on Saturday afternoon.

Live championship coverage on Saturday, Nov. 23 will be broadcasted on the ESPN Family of Networks beginning at 9:30 a.m. The women's 6k race will begin at 10:20 a.m., and the men's 10k race will follow at 11:10 a.m.

This is Butler's fifth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Championships. Last season, the Bulldogs placed 21st as a team with Florian Le Pallec leading the charge in 65th.

The 2024 Championships will be held at the Zimmer Championship Course in Madison, Wis., and hosted by the University of Wisconsin. The Bulldogs already competed on the course in October at the Pre-Nationals meet where William Zegarski finished 14th and was just the second sophomore across the line.

Butler is coming off a thrilling race at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Friday after Zegarski edged out the win by .2 seconds to win the individual title. This was the third time in the last four years that a Bulldog had won the national meet.

Austin Gabay and Florian Le Pallec also each earned All-Great Lakes Region honors after placing eighth and ninth. The trio was also joined by teammates David Slapak (36th), and Luke Henseler (50th), who rounded out the scorers.

As a team, the Bulldogs placed third in the meet with a score of 104 points and won the tie-breaker over Michigan State.

The NCAA field will include a total of 31 teams plus qualifying individuals from each of the nine regions.
