Butler coach
Cassie Shultz has signed four standouts as Sienna Miles, Sophie Parr, Hailey Poplin, and Julia Uyesato will join the Butler women's tennis program beginning with the upcoming 2025-26 academic year.

"I couldn't be more excited about the level of talent and strength of character we are bringing to the women's team next year," said Shultz. "This class will have a great impact on our program over the next four years."

Sienna Miles
Â
Miles, from Calgary, Alberta, has been a top-ranked junior both provincially and nationally. She held a Top 10 ranking at the Tennis Canada Fischer Junior Nationals (U16) and was the recipient of the Tennis Canada Sportsmanship Award in 2023. In International (ITF) competition, she was the doubles champion at the J30 Christiansted and the Doubles Finalist at the J60 Edmonton, J60 Langley (Vancouver), J60 Tacarigua, Trinidad, J30 Bridgetown, Barbados. She also qualified for the main draw of Eddie Herr Championships (U16) in the fall of 2023. Nationally, she ranks Top 15 in doubles. She achieved a professional WTA ranking at age 17 at the W35 Edmonton.

Sophie Parr
Parr, from Silvis, Ill., held the No. 1 USTA ranking for the state of Iowa and reached No. 6 in the USTA sectional ranking. She attends Liberty Academy.

Parr on selecting Butler: "I was initially attracted to Butler for its excellence in academics and athletics, and its vibrant community. But I fell in love with Butler after meeting Coach Shultz and the amazing tennis team."

Hailey Poplin
Poplin, from Hilton Head Island, S.C., plays for Heritage Academy and Van Der Meer Tennis Academy. A three-time all-state honoree, Poplin has earned all-conference accolades five times and all-region honors on four occasions. She was named the 2023 Region Player of the Year. She has led her team to state championships in both 2019 and 2022, four conference championships, and a team record of 148-9.

Poplin on selecting Butler: "I chose Butler University because I believe their academic program can better me in my future and give me an amazing experience. The tennis program allows me to compete at a high, competitive level, and still have the amazing bonds, friendships and relationships that come with it as well. Butler to me feels like home and I think that is so important for students with choosing where to go to college."

Julia Uyesato
Uyesato, from Corona, Calif., has starred for her Academy of Innovation team since her freshman season. Her accolades include the Honors with Distinction Award for earning a GPA of better than 4.0 throughout her high school career.

Coach Shultz on Uyesato: "Julia will arrive on campus with textbook technique. She is driven and a focused learner. Julia has immense potential for huge gains in her collegiate career."
