Scouting UMass Lowell                                                                                  Â
The River Hawks are 0-5 with home losses to Holy Cross and Rhode Island. They took setbacks on the road to Colgate, Minnesota, and Dartmouth. Head Coach Denise King is in her fourth season at UMass Lowell. This year's team is led by sophomore forward Rayne Durant and her 11.8 scoring average. Sophomore guard Maddie Rice is another impact player averaging 7.6 points and a team-best 7.0 rebounds per contest. BU ball handlers will need to keep an eye out for Sydney Watkins. The redshirt-senior from Indianapolis leads the conference in steals (13) averaging 2.6 per game.

The only meeting between Butler and UMass Lowell came just four games into the 2018-19 season with the Bulldogs winning on their home court 89-36. The River Hawks were limited to just 12 made field goals, shooting 23 percent from the field. Butler's offense was just as good as their defense that day shooting 54 percent in the contest. They outscored UMass Lowell 47-10 in the first half and would lead wire-to-wire in the victory.

Strande Stretches the Floor                                                          Â
Caroline Strande is one of the best 3-point shooters in the BIG EAST. Strande has attempted (27) and made (11) more 3-pointers than anyone else in the conference. She averages 2.2 made 3-pointers per game and has hit at least one in every game this season. Strande heads into the weekend ranked fifth in 3-point field goal percentage, connecting on 40 percent of her shots from distance.

Butler ranks third in the BIG EAST in both offensive rebounds (13.4) and forcing turnovers (21.4). BU had 20 offensive boards in their season opener and have now grabbed 10 or more in four of their first five games. Ball pressure and a full court press has also allowed the Bulldogs to create turnovers. Each BU opponent this year has had 16 turnovers or more. Indiana and Milwaukee are the only two teams this year to keep their total under 20.

Butler defeated Indiana for just the second time in school history on Nov. 13 by the final score of 56-46. It was the first time the Bulldogs had beaten the Hoosiers by double digits and they were able to do it in front of a record-breaking crowd of 4,135 fans.

Austin Parkinson Reaches 250 Career Wins                            Â
Austin Parkinson guided Butler to 26 wins over his first two seasons at the helm. The Bulldog opening round WNIT victory last year moved Parkinson's career win total to 250.

The BIG EAST matchup between Butler and St. John's set for Feb. 16 will be played at Madison Square Garden. The 2024-25 Bulldogs will be the first-ever Butler women's basketball team to play inside "The World's Most Famous Arena".

The Butler women's basketball program is celebrating 50 years of Bulldog basketball in 2024-25. Over the previous 49 years, BU has recorded 689 wins under the direction of nine head coaches. The program record for most wins in a single-season was set in 1980-81 when the Bulldogs went 26-2 under the leadership of Linda Mason. Butler's only NCAA Tournament appearance came in 1995-96 when BU posted a 21-9 overall record.

Gulf Coast Showcase                                                                       Â
The Bulldogs will participate in the Gulf Coast Showcase this year. The tournament field features Butler, Boise State, High Point, Illinois State, New Mexico State, Santa Clara, Texas and West Virginia. Seven of the eight teams competing advanced to the postseason last year. Six of the eight teams in the field posted 20 or more wins last season.
