The Bulldogs continued fall play over the weekend in East Lansing, Mich., joined a number of teams for the MSU Spartan Invitational.
 
Butler was joined by four Big Ten schools in host Michigan State, Iowa, Northwestern and Ohio State, as well as BIG EAST rival DePaul, as well as Eastern Michigan.
 
In the C Singles flight, Chase Metcalf opened play with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Kseniia Saenko of Eastern Michigan. Metcalf closed out the tournament Sunday with a thrilling 7-6 (5), 6-7 (8), 7-5 win over Iowa's Nikita Vishwase.
 
Sunday also saw Norah Balthazor knock off Saenko by a score of 7-5, 6-2.
 
Lauren Cook picked up a convincing 6-2, 6-1 win over Michigan State's Sarah Fazlagic in Flight E. Also in Flight E play, Emma Beavin fought back after losing the first set to knock off Regina Mendez of Eastern Michigan, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.
 
In doubles play, the Butler duos of Emma Beavin and Balthazor, and Katie Beavin and Elle Martin both picked up two wins. Cook and Jordan Schildcrout teamed up for a win as well.
 
The Bulldogs are slated to close out the fall portion of their schedule during the upcoming weekend (Nov. 8-10) at the Western Michigan Invitational.
