2023 All-Academic Awards

@ButlerXCTF Receives 2023 USTFCCCA Cross Country All-Academic Honors

On Feb. 1, the United States Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recognized both the Butler men's and women's cross country teams on the 2024 All-Academic Teams. 

The cross country team led all men's programs at Butler with a combined 3.547 GPA and ranked 42nd in the country. On the women's side, the team finished with a combined 3.727 GPA which was second among the other Bulldog programs and 44th in the NCAA.

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships.


Five Bulldogs also were also named All-Academic Athletes. On the men's team, Matthew Forrester, Jesse Hamlin, Will Minnette and William Zegarski each earned the honors while Elsa Rusthoven was the lone representative on the women's side.

Senior Forrester is seeking a degree in English while senior Minnette is majoring in chemistry. Graduate student Hamlin goes for a Masters in Data Analytics while sophomore Zegarski is pursuing a major in data science. Junior Rusthoven is currently majoring in Health Sciences.
