@ButlerXCTF Complete Busy Weekend at the Three Different Invitationals

The Butler track and field team split up this weekend to compete at the Valentine and Eagle Elite Invitationals in Boston, Mass. while the rest of the team remained in Indiana to race at the Marian Indoor Invitationals at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

Highlights of the weekend included:

Eagle Elite Invitational
  • Jesse Hamlin broke his previous program record in the men's mile at 3:56.59 to place fifth out of 37 elite athletes. His mark jumps to fourth in the conference and 28th in the country. He also ran to a sixth-place finish in Saturday's 3,000 meters in a time of 7:52.06. 
  • William Cuthbertson set a new personal best of 1:49.79 in the men's 800 meters to finish 17th. In terms of Butler indoor marks, that now ranks third in program history.
  • Elsa Rusthoven ran a new lifetime best int the women's 3,000 meters at 9:27.11 to earn 12th place. She now cracks the Top 10 on Butler's indoor list. 
Valentine Invitational
  • Wiktoria Klebowska scratched 10 seconds off her personal best in the women's 5,000 meters to record a time of 16:21.84. Her mark ranks as the sixth fastest indoor 5K in program history.
  • William Zegarski (14:06.91) and Will Minnette (14:13.79) competed in the seeded 5,000 meters. Tomer Mualem posted a 14:12.87 in the unseeded men's 5,000 meters to finish 15th out of 77 runners.
  • Matthew Forrester's time of 13:42.27 in the 5,000 meters was good for 36th overall and moves him to fourth on Butler's indoor list for the event. 
  • David Slapak placed 16th in the 3,000 meters, crossing the line in a time of 7:56.13. His time is fifth in indoor program history. 
  • Martin Kovacech ran to a time of 4:08.73 in the mile. 
Marian Indoor Invitational
  • Ashlyn Minton ran away with the win in the women's 3,000 meters with a time of 10:15.19.
  • Luke Finnegan claimed another title in the men's 200 meters, winning the race at 21.49. Gavin Cougle followed just behind in third at 21.78. 
  • Reagan Kelly crossed the line at 57.83 in the women's 200 meters to place second.
  • Zac Stanley placed second in the men's long jump with a distance of 7.02 meters
  • Lily Wharton earned third in the women's 60-meter hurdles at 9.32.
  • Lauren Doerr posted a time of 7.79 in the women's 60 meters to finish third.
Up Next
The Bulldogs will regroup and head back to South Bend, Ind. for the Alex Wilson Invitational on Feb. 17th.
