Shelvin Mack to headline Butler alumni team All Good Dawgs as TBT brings regional to Hinkle Fieldhouse for first time

INDIANAPOLIS, February 13, 2024 – The Basketball Tournament (TBT), the 64-team, $1 million winner-take-all event, announced today that Butler University and Hinkle Fieldhouse will host a TBT regional for the first time in 2024. The regional will be headlined by Butler alumni team All Good Dawgs, whose roster will feature former Bulldogs great and eight-year NBA veteran Shelvin Mack.

Butler Regional games will be played at Hinkle Fieldhouse from July 19-24.

"Bringing TBT to Hinkle is a dream come true," said TBT founder and CEO Jon Mugar. "Our event is modeled after the Indiana High School Tournament featured in Hoosiers, which was a seminal movie in my childhood. We are excited to partner with Butler University to bring our event to Indiana for the first time."

"There is no better place to experience basketball than Hinkle Fieldhouse, and we are excited to add TBT games to the list of marquee events that have been played here," said Butler Vice President and Director of Athletics Barry Collier. "Butler prides itself on creating great experiences for our teams and fans, and the 2024 TBT will be no different."

"Being able to bring together some of the greatest Bulldogs to ever wear our jersey as part of an All Good Dawgs TBT team is a great thing for Butler," said Bulldogs head coach Thad Matta. "Our fans are going to love watching these Dawgs compete at Hinkle again in one of the most fun tournament settings ever created."

All Good Dawgs marks the first time Butler University has had an alumni team entry in TBT. The team will be joined in the regional by seven other teams hoping to emerge one step closer to TBT's $1M grand prize.

Mack, All Good Dawgs' first player commitment, starred at Butler from 2008-11, and helped lead the Bulldogs to back-to-back NCAA Tournament championship appearances and two Horizon League titles.

Mack was drafted with the 34th pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, and spent eight seasons in the NBA before finishing his playing career in Europe.

Remaining roster announcements will be made over the coming months via All Good Dawgs' social media pages, @AllGoodDawgsTBT.

Since TBT began in 2014, it has awarded more than $13M in prize money, and has been viewed in more than 180 countries around the world. Alumni teams have won TBT's championship in four of the past five summers, with teams representing Ohio State, Marquette, Syracuse, and the University of Buffalo taking home the $1M prize between 2019-2022. TBT is also the home of the Elam Ending, the alternate ending to games where teams play to a target score. The Elam Ending was adopted and featured by the NBA for its All-Star Games from 2020-23, and is now being used in G League games as part of their overtime format.

Tickets for the 2024 Butler Regional will go on sale at a later date. To be the first to secure tickets for the event, fans can sign up for TBT's waitlist at thetournament.com/tbt/tickets/.
