INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler swim team competed in two relay events on Wednesday to signal the start of the 2024 BIG EAST Swimming Championships. The meet is held in downtown Indianapolis this year at the IUPUI Natatorium. The 200 Medley Relay team set a new school record and
Kate Schilling set a new school record for BU while competing in the 800 Free Relay.Â
"We had a strong start to the meet and tonight got us excited for the days ahead," Assistant Coach
Allie Carmichael said. "Starting off the meet with a Butler record was incredibly exciting and showed exactly what the coaches know this team is capable of. Followed up by another school record in the 200 free by Kate and great 800 free relay put Butler in a great position to attack the rest of the meet!"

The 'Dawgs earned 52 points by finishing in fourth place of the 200 Medley Relay. The team of

Emily Landwehr,
Lauren Bergman, and
Olivia Stotts clocked in at 1:43.77.

Kate Schilling,
Elizabeth Naylor,
Sadie Brown, and
Emily Landwehr teamed up for the Bulldogs in the 800 Freestyle Relay to place sixth with a time of 7:33.83. That effort landed 48 points with BU.

Day two will begin at 10 a.m. ET with the prelims of the 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free. The men's 3-meter dive prelims will begin at 1 p.m. The finals will begin at 5:45 p.m., with the 200 freestyle relay closing out the night.
