#22 Creighton Defeats Butler 75-65 at Hinkle Fieldhouse

INDIANAPOLIS – #22 Creighton earned a 75-65 win against Butler on Sunday afternoon to record their 18th win of the season. The Bulldogs led the Bluejays 37-33 at the half but would surrender the lead in the third quarter after being outscored 26-13. The Bulldogs are now 9-13 overall.
 
The Bluejays missed their first two shots of the game but would hit their next four to open up a 10-4 lead at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The Bulldog bench got the offense rolling in this one and a 7-0 run for Butler would make it a one-point game after the first quarter 17-16.
 
Sydney Jaynes scored the first four points of the contest for the Bulldogs and Kendall Wingler was responsible for the team's first made 3-pointer. The late BU scoring run was sparked by freshman Karsyn Norman and her five first quarter points.
 
Butler came out strong in the second quarter to score the first four points of the frame to take a 20-17 lead. They outscored Creighton 21-16 to hold a 37-33 lead at the break. Jaynes led BU with 10 points and Norman added eight. The Bluejays had two players combine for 24 of their team's 33 points. Lauren Jensen and Emma Ronsiek were in the box score with 12 apiece.
 
The third quarter was the difference maker as Creighton used an 8-0 run to take a 41-39 lead. That scoring spree would move to 18-2 giving the Bluejays a 10-point cushion at 51-41. Creighton's 10 point lead would be shaved down to seven points with five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter but the Bulldogs would not get any closer taking us to the final score of 75-65.
