BIG EAST Release

Freshman, Elle Martin has been selected as this week's BIG EAST Singles Player of the Week, announced by the conference on Monday afternoon. This is the Park City, Utah native's first BIG EAST collegiate award. 
 
Martin went 3-0 on a successful week of play for her spring debut with the Bulldogs. She clinched the team outcome for the Bulldogs with the first dual match win of her career in Tuesday's match against the University of Illinois - Chicago. Martin defeated Anais Brion from UIC in a tight 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 finish, helping the Bulldogs snap UIC's 12-match winning streak against the Bulldogs that dates back to 2009. On Saturday, Martin defeated Sarah Ben Aba from Lindenwood 3-6, 6-4, and closed out the match with a 10-3 tie breaking win in the No. 5 singles spot. On Sunday, Martin beat Emiliya Margolin from Arkansas State in a 6-2, 6-3 win. 
 
The Butler women's tennis team will be back in action this Saturday, February 10^th, where they will take on Purdue in West Lafayette, Ind.
