BIG EAST Home Opener Brings Georgetown to Bulldog Park

INDIANAPOLIS – Butler and Georgetown will play a three-game series at Bulldog Park this weekend. Game one will stream on FloSports at 4 PM. Games two and three of the series will have live stats available for fans to follow along. Action picks up at 2 PM on Saturday and at Noon on Sunday.

Scouting Georgetown
The Hoyas are 23-9 overall with a 5-1 record in the BIG EAST. GU swept Villanova at Capital One Park and won two of three at home over Seton Hall last weekend. Head Coach Edwin Thompson is in his fourth season with the program. The 2024 team leads the conference in hits (311), slugging percentage (.487), base on balls (186), double plays (37) and WHIP (1.43). Leading the charge for the Hoyas is senior first baseman Christian Ficca. He leads the league in RBIs (45), is second in hits (47) and comes in at sixth with his .376 BA. The Hoya lineup also features the league leader in stolen bases, Michael Eze (20) and Jake Hyde who ranks second in the BIG EAST in home runs (9).
 
On the mound, GU has three of the best arms in the conference. Friday's starter has the fifth-best ERA in the BIG EAST (3.47) and he is followed by Andrew Williams on Saturday who has the lowest ERA at 2.12. On Sunday, Butler will battle Everett Catlett. The lefty leads the BIG EAST with 51 strikeouts and is third among BIG EAST arms with his 2.66 ERA. On the back end, Nick Davis leads the conference in saves (6).

- Carter Dorighi leads the BIG EAST and ranks 15th in the nation in hits (53)
- The Butler team record for hits in a single-season is 82 (Harrison Freed – 2019)
- Dorighi has the third-highest batting average in the BIG EAST (.387 BA)

- Lewis is second in the BIG EAST with nine home runs and third in RBIs with 34

Butler will head to Ypsilanti to play at Eastern Michigan on Tuesday next week. Their next home game after the Georgetown series will be on Wednesday vs. Miami. Each game is slated for a 4 PM start.
