2024 BIG EAST Tournament Schedule Release
The Butler men's tennis team will enter the BIG EAST tournament as the No. 5 seed announced by the conference on Monday afternoon. The Bulldogs will match up with No. 4 seed Creighton in the quarterfinals on Friday, April 19 in Cayce, S.C.
The Bulldogs sit at an 9-16 record overall for the 2024 spring season and 4-2 in conference play. The Bulldogs rounded out the regular season with a 4-1 win over Marquette in Milwaukee, Wis. this past weekend.
The Bulldogs have excelled at BIG EAST play during their 2024 spring campaign with wins over Georgetown, Xavier, Villanova, and Marquette. In singles play,
Patrick Joss obtained a 5-2 record at No. 3 singles and is 3-2 over BIG EAST opponents in singles play this season.
Aidan William is 4-1 in singles conference play thus far this season with wins over Xavier, Villanova, Creighton, and Marquette.
In doubles play,
Alvaro Huete Vadillo and
Rahulniket Konakanchi lead the Bulldogs in doubles play with a 6-1 record at No. 1 doubles. Three of Huete and Konakanchi's doubles wins were over BIG EAST members Creighton, Villanova, and Xavier.
The Men's and Women's Championship matches will be streamed live on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) on FloSports. Live coverage of the Men's Championship will begin on Sunday at 9 a.m. ET, while the live broadcast of the Women's Championship kicks off at 1 p.m.
Scouting Creighton
Creighton has a 13-8 record overall and 4-2 conference record for the 2024 spring season. Earlier in the season, the Bluejays topped the Bulldogs in a hard-fought match that resulted in a 4-3 win for Creighton. The Bulldogs currently lead the Bluejays all time 5-3.
