Treva Dodd stands in third after the opening day of the Redbird Invitational. Her collegiate debut has her with a 36-hole total of two-under 142.

Dodd opened the tournament in Normal, Ill., with an even-par 72 before carding a two-under 70 in the afternoon portion. She birdied nine of her 36 holes on the day at the 6,093-yard Weibring Golf Club course.

Dodd leads the Butler effort that has the Bulldogs in third place on the team leaderboard entering Monday's final round. Butler is at 15-over 591 after rounds of 298 and 293. That is one shot behind second-place Little Rock. Host Illinois State, which holds three of the top four spots of the individual leaderboard surrounding Dodd, is at 13-under 563. Â There are 14 teams in the field.

Morgan Jones of Illinois State holds the day-one lead at seven-under 137.

Katie Steinman also joins Dodd in the Top 10. She started the tournament with a one-under 71 and followed that with a 74 later in the day. Her 145 total (+1) has her among a five-way tie for sixth after the first day.

The 54-hole event begins Sunday. The players are slated for 36 holes on the opening day, followed by a final 18 Monday. Shotgun starts are scheduled for 8:30 a.m. (Central) both days.
