Three Different Bulldogs Finish First at the Fighting Illini Open

URBANA-CHAMPAIGN, ILL. — The Butler track and field team kicked off the new year at the Fighting Illini Open. The meet was held by the University of Illinois and featured two other teams including Illinois and Western Illinois.

Troy Larrison, Abby Brennan and Aedan Rendek led the charge for the Bulldogs, each earning a spot on top of the podium. Larrison set a new personal record in the men's 60-meter dash with a mark of 6.93 while Brennan also earned a new lifetime best in the women's 600 meters at 1:33.97. Rendek joined the two top finishers, winning the men's mile in 4:21.59 to record a new personal best.

Other top Bulldog finishers included:
  • Jenna Doezema and Allie Minier rounded out the podium in the women's 600 meters with Doezema taking second in 1:35.63 and Minier right behind in 1:37.14
  • Bennett DuBois finished third in the men's mile at 4:22.06
  • Ben Bradley posted a mark of 7.11 in the men's 60 meters to place third

Butler will return to action next week at the Hoosier Horsepower Classic in Indianapolis, Ind. This will be the first four straight meets hosted at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
