WEST LAFAYETTE - Nine Top 10 finishes at the Dan Ross Indiana Intercollegiate propelled the Butler women's swimming team to a fifth place finish in the event. Multiple swimmers secured BIG EAST qualifying times in the event as BU posted 165 points as a team.
"The team raced and performed really well against strong in-state opponents, including the Big 10 program in Purdue." said Butler assistant coach Hannah Cressman. "While today's event line-up was a little unusual with more sprint-focused events, Coach Maurice and I were excited to watch our mid-distance and distance swimmers rise to the occasion for plenty of season best times and BIG EAST conference qualifying times."
The coaching staff selected sophomore Caitlin Herring as the swimmer of the meet, as she had the team's season-best times in both her individual events (100 free, 200 free) and helped both her relays place in the top 10.
Kate Schilling placed third in the 100 individual medley event with a time of 58.78. Schilling's third place finish marked the best individual finish of the day for BU.
