Butler Set to Race at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational

The Bulldogs are set to compete in the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational on Friday afternoon. The meet, hosted by Wisconsin, will take place at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course in Madison, Wisconsin.

Butler enters the meet ranked No. 12 in this week's national coaches' poll by the U.S. Cross Country and Track and Field Coaches Association. The invitational features 14 nationally ranked teams, including Butler and Wisconsin, along with 18 unranked teams.

The Men's 8k Championship Race is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. ET. Head coach Matt Roe will run William Zegarski, Brendan Thomas, David Slapak, Jesse Hamlin, Austin Gabay, Eli Fullerton, Matthew Forrester, and Sean Byrnes. 

Zegarski is coming off a 14th-place finish at the Gans Creek Classic. Forrester, Gabay, Hamlin and Slapak each placed in the top 100 at Gans Creek, helping the Bulldogs secure a seventh-place team finish.

Butler will also compete in the Men's 8k B Race. The B race will begin at 11:30 a.m. ET. Coach Roe will run Kyle Grove, Asher Propst, Matteo Rosio and Charlie Jones.

After competing in the Swags Louisville Cross Country Classic, the Butler women's team will not race this weekend. Both the men's and women's teams will return to competition at the BIG EAST Championship on Oct. 31.
