INDIANAPOLIS - Butler defeated Indiana State 101-56 on Thursday evening at Hinkle Fieldhouse behind a career-high 16 points from
Mallory Miller. With the win, Butler improves to 5-6 on the season while Indiana State slides to 4-4.
BULLDOG HIGHLIGHTS
- Mallory Miller led Butler with 16 points on an efficient 6-for-9 shooting performance from the floor. Miller added seven rebounds and two assists in the game.
- Saniya Jackson (14), McKenna Johnson (13), Caroline Dotsey (11) and Addison Baxter (10) rounded out the Bulldogs in double figures.
- Miller led the squad on the glass with her seven rebounds.
- Butler held Indiana State to only six made field goals in the first half as the Sycamores shot 17.1-percent from the floor.
- BU shot 37-for-64 from the floor (57.8%).
- Butler forced 21 Indiana State turnovers, marking the 13th time in the last 14 games that BU has forced its opponents to commit double-digit turnovers.
INDIANA STATE HIGHLIGHTS
- Tierney Kelsey led the Sycamores with 14 points on 4-for-16 shooting from the floor.
- Clemisha Prackett led ISU on the glass pulling down 15 rebounds.
- ISU shot 27.9-percent (19-68) from the floor and 10.5-percent (2-19) from beyond the arc.
- The Sycamores pulled down 43 rebounds in the contest to Butler's 39.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both sides traded buckets to start the game as Miller scored nine of Butler's first 14 points of the game. Butler dominated the first quarter, shooting 60-percent from the floor taking the 22-10 lead into the second frame.
- BU opened the second quarter on a 7-0 run fueled by four points from Caroline Dotsey. The Dawgs continued to dominate the Sycamores, as the BU lead grew to 20 at the 4:30 mark of the quarter. Butler closed the quarter on a 16-3 run, taking the 48-17 advantage into the break. ISU was unable to score a point over the final 4:05 of the quarter as Butler held the Sycamores to only six-made field goals in the first half.
- ISU started the third quarter strong, putting together a 7-2 run while holding the Bulldogs scoreless for over two minutes. Indiana State continued to try and chip away at the deficit, hitting three-consecutive shots. Butler responded with a 3-pointer from Miller extending the advantage to 31 points with three minutes left in the quarter.
- Butler continued its dominance in the fourth quarter, holding ISU to only four points through the first three minutes of the frame. Butler was able to cruise to a 101-56 victory over the final minutes of the contest, securing its fifth win of the campaign.
