The Butler Men's Tennis team traveled to Kalamazoo Michigan on Friday for two matches. The Bulldogs went 1-1 on the day moving their record on the season to 6-5.

In the earlier afternoon Butler defeated Purdue Northwest by a score of 4-2. After dropping the doubles point despite a win on the number 2 court by the duo of Riccardo Baldi and Arnesh Singh the Dawgs took 4 of the possible 6 singles matches leading to the win. 

On court 2 sophomore Riccardo Baldi carried momentum over from the doubles courts and took down Samuel Dickson in a very competitive 3 set match 7-5, 1-6, 6-4. On court 3 Nicolas Arts was able to defeat his opponent Daniel Chicano i Melero in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. Moving to court 4 Nicholas Shirley found himself in a first set tiebreaker where he was able to come out on top leading to a first set win and followed that by winning the second set 6-3 and the match 7-6, 6-3. Over on court 5 junior Rahulniket Konakanchi was able to prevail in his match in straight sets beating Francisco Lanuesse 6-2, 6-3. 


Earlier in the day, Butler took on Western Michigan. The Broncos earned a 6-1 victory. 

Western Michigan was able to grab the early advantage by winning the doubles point, although Nicolas Arts and Rahulniket Konakanchi were able to pick up a win on court 1.

As for singles, Western Michigan won five of the six matches. On court 5 Nicholas Shirley was able to knock off Matej Kajzer in straight sets 6-4, 6-2. 

The Dawgs will be back in action next Friday February 28th where they will travel just down the road to take on the Jaguars of IU Indy. That match will start at 1:30 pm and it will take place at the West Indy Racquet Club.
