Bulldogs Place Sixth in 2025 #BEswimdive Championships Presented by JEEP

The Butler swim team finished in sixth place of the 2025 BIG EAST Swim and Dive Championship Meet. Following four days of competition at the SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio, the Bulldogs recorded 570 points, which is their second-highest total ever when competing in the conference championship meet!
 
A total of seven individual (100 Free, 200 Free, 1000 Free, 1650 Free, 100 Breast, 200 Breast, and 200 IM) and one relay (800 Free Relay) school records were set by the team in addition to several lifetime-best times! The BU coaching staff tabbed Kate Schilling as the "Swimmer of the Meet" Schilling managed to set five individual school records (100 Free, 200 Free, 100 Breast, 200 Breast, and 200 IM) and was part of the record-setting 800 Free Relay Team.
 
Schilling (51.18), Caitlin Herring (52.43), Alani Hightower-Bend (52.13), and Olivia Stotts (51.78), made up Butler's A Team in the 400 Free Relay. That group posted a final time of 3:27.52 to place sixth. Schilling's starting leg set the school record in the 100 Free! 
 
Schilling also set a new school record in the 200 Breast posting a time of 2:14.61. She placed fourth overall while Ava McGonigle placed 14th (2:23.62), Lydia Eberlein placed 16th (2:23.27) and Lauren Bergman placed 24th (2:28.88).
 
Kayla Wright set a new school record for the Bulldogs in the 1650 Free. She finished ninth with a time of 17:11.45, and her 1000 Free split also broke the school record (10:24.30).
 
In the 200 Fly, Sadie Brown earned 17th place with a lifetime-best swim of 2:03.69. Her effort was the third fastest time in program history. Emma Ciesla also competed in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:10.13 to end up in 22nd.
 
Caroline Zimner paced a trio of Bulldogs in the 200 Back. Zimner finished in ninth with a time of 2:02.02, Gianna Leffler placed 18th with a time of 2:06.69 and Olivia McKee touched the wall at 2:08.25 to finish 20th.
 
100 Free action included Olivia Stotts, Caitlin Herring, Alani Hightower-Bend and Ava Whittaker. Stotts (51.99) and Herring (52.36) were the top performers for BU taking 15th and 17th. Hightower-Bend (53.12) and Whittaker (53.27) finished back-to-back in 23rd and 24th.
