The Butler swim team competed against IU Indy over the weekend, taking second place against the Jaguars in the meet held downtown. Senior
Avery Piel received the team award for "Swimmer of the Meet" for her performance in the 100 Fly, where she earned her BIG EAST cut, by posting a season-best time.
"The IU Indianapolis team gave us some good races that allowed our swimmers to push themselves, and the results of this meet demonstrate just how much progress we've made since the beginning of the season," Assistant Coach
Hannah Cressman stated. "With plenty of lifetime and season-best times, our coaching staff was happy to see our swimmers benefiting from the detail and endurance work done in practice."
400 Medley Relay
Butler's A Relay team placed fourth in the 400 Medley with a time of 3:59.55. The backstroke was swam by
Gianna Leffler (59.49), breastroke by
Kate Schilling (1:05.77), fly by
Ava Whittaker (59.29), and freestyle by
Olivia Stotts (55.00).

Kayla Wright was the top BU swimmer in the even with a personal and team season-best time of 10:49.19.
50 Fly
Two Bulldogs swam well in the 50 Fly.
Lauren Bergman earned second place and
Ava Whittaker was close behind in third. The duo clocked times of 26.10 and 26.59 respectively.
50 Back
Gianna Leffler picked up a third place finish in the 50 back with a time of 28.34.
50 Free
Butler's top finisher in the 50 Free was
Olivia Stotts. She placed third with a time of 25.13.
400 IM
Sadie Brown and
Caroline Zimner were active for Butler in the 400 IM. Brown placed third (4:38.25) and Zimer touched the wall at 4:38.69 for fourth.
100 Fly
Alani Hightower-Bend and
Avery Piel represented the Bulldogs well in the 100 Fly. Hightower-Bend placed second in a time of 58.60 while Piel posted her season-best time at 1:00.81.
100 Breast
Lauren Bergman had a lifetime-best swim in the event clocking in at 1:09.10 for fourth place.
100 Free
Ava Whittaker took third place in this even with a time of 54.77.
500 Free
Kate Schilling had a personal-best time against the Jags, clocking in at 5:04.07 which led her to a second place finish.
200 Back
Olivia McKee won the 200 Back for the Bulldogs! Her season-best time was locked in at 2:08.75.
200 Breast
Lydia Eberlein and
Caroline Zimner finished back-to-back in the event with Eberlein leading the duo in third place (2:31.25). Zimner posted a lifetime-best swim at 2:31.88.
200 Free Relay
Butler's A Relay Team of
Alani Hightower-Bend (24.67),
Elizabeth Naylor (25.58),
Caitlin Herring (25.29) and
Olivia Stotts (24.64) placed third at the meet.
