INDIANAPOLIS, IND. — Butler faced off in a battle against Arkansas State in the home opener at the Indianapolis Racquet Club Friday night. The Bulldogs put up a valiant effort, but would fall just short to the Red Wolves 4-3.

The match began in favor of the Bulldogs claimed the doubles point on courts 1 and 3. The duo of Chase Metcalf and Brooke Arington cruised to a 6-4 victory on court 1 while Norah Balthazor and Emma Beavin earned the win with a score of 6-2 on court 3.

On the singles courts, the Bulldogs secured two points On court 1, Chase Metcalf continued to dominate defeating Anna Grigoreva 6-4, 6-4

Norah Balthazor then clashed with Lilly Cvanciger on court 2, going back and forth, but she would eventually edged out in both sets 6-4, 6-4.

Arkansas State would claim the next three sets to then secure the team match victory.

With the team match already clinched for Arkansas State, Lauren Cook still completed the comeback victory on court 6, winning 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Butler will return to the Indianapolis Racquet Club again for one more match against UIndy on Wednesday, Feb. 12 beginning at 1 PM.
