On Friday afternoon the Butler Men's Tennis team won their first conference match of the season. The Dawgs defeated the Villanova Wildcats 7-0, improving their record to 7-7 and 1-1 in conference play. 

Butler started fast, snagging the doubles point thanks to wins on courts 1 and 3. The duo of Nicolas Arts and Rahulniket Konakanchi took down Will Monahan and Justin Frattarelli 6-3 on court number 1. On court 3 Patrick Joss and Nicholas Shirley beat Thomas Wakefield and Quincy Jones 6-0.

As for singles, the Dawgs swept the Wildcats. On courts 1, 2, 4, and 5 Butler won in straight sets. On court 1 Patrick Joss defeated Cooper Gordon 6-1, 6-3. On court 2 Riccardo Baldi knocked off Trey Fourticq 7-6, 6-3. On court 4 Rahulniket Konakanchi took down Thomas Wakefield 6-2, 6-4. On court 5 Nicholas Shirley defeated Kush Anand 6-4, 6-1.

Over on court 3 Nicolas Arts and Will Monahan split the first two sets. Arts won the first set 6-2 while Monahan won the second set 7-5, forcing a tiebreaker. In the tiebreaker Nicolas Arts was able to just edge out Monahan 10-8, winning the match 6-2, 5-7, 10-8. Moving over to court 6, Aidan William was able to win his third singles match in a row, he faced off against Quincy Jones. William won the first set but dropped the second set. In the tiebreaker he was able to pull away winning the tiebreaker 10-5 and the match 6-4, 4-6, 10-5. 

The Dawgs are right back in action tomorrow, they will take on Le Moyne College. The match will start at 2pm.
