Butler Hosts Marquette for the Big East Conference Opener

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. — The Butler women's lacrosse team will welcome Marquette for the Big East conference season opener. The match will take place at Varsity Field on Saturday at 12 PM. 

Bulldog Bits
  • Butler fell to 0-6 on the season last week after a hard fought battle at Lindenwood 8-14
  • Elise Latham set a new career-high four goals against the Lions last Sunday with all four coming from the free position
    • Latham's total jumped to 13 goals this season, which ranks 10th in the Big East
  • Maggie Lewis returned to action scoring two goals after missing three games with an injury 
    • Despite not starting a game this season, Lewis has scored two or more goals in each game with her season total reaching seven
  • Alyssa Lentz currently leads the Big East with an average of 10.17 saves per game
    • Lentz added nine saves against Lindenwood last Sunday bringing her season total to 61.
  • Patricia Lynn padded the stats with three draw controls and a caused turnover
    • Lynn needs just two more draw controls to reach third on Butler's all-time list for career draw controls.
Scouting Marquette
  • The Golden Eagles lead Butler all-time with a record of 8-0
    • Marquette won 20-12 at the last meeting in Milwaukee
  • Marquette holds the best average of 31.88 shots per game in the Big East
  • Meg Bireley is the Golden Eagles top weapon as she leads in nearly every offensive category including points, goals, assists, and shots
    • She currently leads the Big East conference with an averages of 3.88 goals per game, 5.25 points per game, and 11.38 shots per game
  • Bireley's average of 11.38 shots per game is nearly five shots more than the next closest athlete with Xavier Lola Mancuso currently sitting in second at 6.75 shots per game
