Butler Wraps Weekend to Remember in Raleigh and St. Louis

The Butler track and field team concluded the busy weekend after splitting up for the Raleigh Relays, WashU Distance Carnival, SLU Speed & Power Meet, and Billiken Invite.

Raleigh Relays
Wiktoria Klebowska led the way Friday night in Raleigh, N.C. in the women's 5,000 meters earning a new personal best at 16:12.97. Her mark also moved up to seventh on Butler's all-time list.

Klebowska joins Matthew Forrster and Jack McMahon who both also set lifetime bests this weekend. 

On Thursday, Forrester placed fourth in the men's 5,000 meters at 13:30.40, which was the fourth fastest time in program history. He was joined by Jesse Hamlin and Austin Gabay, who both also broke 14 minutes in the 5K with Hamlin running a 13:40.71 while Gabay followed at 13:52.19.

In the 10,000 meters, Jack McMahon also jumped up to fifth on Butler's all-time list with a mark of 28:36.07 while placing 23rd.

WashU Distance Carnival
In St. Louis, Mo. Joe Barrett was the lone Bulldog competitor at the WashU Distance Carnival on Friday. Barrett posted a time of 3:53.49 in the men's 1,500 meters.

Brendan Thomas was the highlight during Thursday's distance events after running a mark of 14:27.60 in the men's 5,000 meters. Thomas took 12th overall, but was the second freshman to cross the line.

Ashlyn Minton recorded a time of 35:36.23 in the women's 10,000 meters to take 17th out of 99 competitors.

SLU Speed & Power Meet
Across the city, the Bulldog sprinters and field athletes earned the top spot in five different events on Friday afternoon at the SLU Speed and Power Meet.

Joseph Pierro and Cabott Craft each earned new personal bests on their way to victory. Pierro won the men's 200 meters with a time of 21.66 while Craft took the top spot in the men's long jump with a distance of 7.20 meters. Jenna Doezema also finished first in the women's 400-meter hurdles at 1:02.41.

The Butler men's and women's 4x100-meter relay teams also crossed the line in the top spots. The quartet of Pierro, Troy Larrison, Ben Bradley, and Ethan Falconer won the event at 41.17. 

On the women's side, Jade Cadichon, Jocelyn Davis, Lily Wharton, and Lauren Doerr earned first at 47.32.

Billiken Invite
Butler closed out the weekend in St. Louis, Mo. at the Billiken Invite on Saturday afternoon.

Jenna Doezema improved on her time the day prior in the women's 400-meter hurdles taking the top spot in the event at 1:01.47 for a new personal best. Jocelyn Davis also led the way in the women's 200 meters winning the event with a time of 24.81.

Both of Butler's 4x100-meter relay teams repeated as champions again on Saturday with the men crossing the line at 41.67 while the women finished at 48.10.

The Bulldogs will regroup next week and head to Cincinnati, Ohio for the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational beginning on Apr. 4-5.
