Butler Takes Down DePaul 5-2

On Saturday afternoon the Butler Men's tennis team picked up a 5-2 win, improving their record to 11-8 on the season and 3-1 in conference play.

Butler started the match off hot, they took the doubles point thanks to wins on courts 1 and 2. On court 1 the Dawgs number one doubles duo of Nicolas Arts and Rahulniket Konakanchi picked up their 9th win as a duo on the season, they defeated Jona Gitschel and Thomas Giles 6-3. On court 2 Riccardo Baldi and Arnesh Singh took down Matteo Iaquinto and Andy Hadziabdic 6-3, clinching the doubles point for the Dawgs.

As for singles, Butler kept the momentum going. On court 1, Patrick Joss dropped the first set but came from behind to defeat Pablo Torress Almeida 6-7, 6-3, 6-4. Moving to court 4, Rahulniket Konakanchi also dropped the first set. He stormed back to take down Thomas Giles 5-7, 6-4, 6-3. On courts 5 and 6 Nicholas Shirley and Aidan William each won their match in straight sets. Shirley beat Tobias Leiner on court 5 6-4, 7-5 and William moved past Quang Vinh Nguyen 6-4, 7-5.

Butler is back in action tomorrow. They will take on Georgetown at 10am at the Indianapolis Racquet Club.
