STORRS, CONN.—The Butler track and field team picked up where they left off on Friday afternoon for the second day of competition at the BiG EAST Outdoor Championships. The men currently sit third with 37 points while the women are in eighth with 10 points.

Lily Wharton and Jesse Hamlin each received All-BIG EAST Honors after placing third in their respective events. Wharton made the podium in women's heptathlon with 4,281 points while Hamlin took home the bronze in the men's 5,000 meters at 13:46.59.

Austin Gabay won the men's 1,500 meters preliminaries qualifying for the finals on Saturday afternoon. 

In the sprints, Joseph Pierro recorded a personal best at 21.25 finishing in second in the 200 meters preliminaries and earning himself a spot in the finals. Max Wilhelm also qualified in the men's 110-meter hurdles in fifth while Jenna Doezema made the finals in the women's 400 meter hurdles in sixth.

Other personal bests on Friday night included Abby Brennan (200 meters, 55.68), Hannah Moore (5K, 16:58.48), and Michael Wells (14.42 meters, shot put).

The final day of competition begins at 10 a.m. ET tomorrow with the women's discus and triple jump and men's javelin. Track events begin at 11 a.m. with the 4x100-meter relay.
