Butler's Sutto and Kooi Sweep BIG EAST Golfer of the Week Honors

| By:
Butler swept the current edition of the BIG EAST Golfer of the Week awards as Logan Sutto and Addi Kooi claimed the recognitions following medalist performances. The conference office made the announcement Friday, Oct. 2.

More About Sutto: Sutto's medalist performance led the Bulldogs to a team title at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational over the weekend and resulted in the junior being selected as the BIG EAST Men's Golfer of the Week.

Sutto's Sunday 67 – his best round of the weekend – gave him a 54-hole total of seven-under 203. He was in red numbers in each of the three rounds. Sutto began the final round one shot behind Ball State's Luke Johnston's lead but overcame him in the final round to win by a single stroke. Sutto had a total of 13 birdies over the three rounds.

This is the third BIG EAST weekly honor for the Monclova, Ohio, native who also was recognized Oct. 1, 2025 and April 7, 2026.

More About Kooi: Kooi posted a program-record performance in taking medalist honors at the NKU Fall Invitational. She also led the Bulldogs to a team title.

Kooi finished the tournament with her first individual collegiate win and broke the program's 54-hole record relative to par, firing off a 208 (-5) across her three rounds. Kooi recorded 10 birdies over the weekend. Butler's previous 54-hole program record relative to par was three-under 213, which was held by current Bulldog Treva Dodd (twice) and Abigail Gleixner in 2016.

Kooi took the tournament lead in the second round and maintained a steady advantage over the field Tuesday, finishing eight shots clear of IU Indy's Li (Sherry) Xia and Camille Rosier of UIC.

This is Kooi's second BIG EAST weekly honor after previously being recognized by the conference Oct. 1, 2025.

On the men's side, Sutto is the second Bulldog to be recognized by the BIG EAST through the team's two tournaments so far this season, joining freshman Nicholas Brooks who earned the accolade Sept. 17 after his co-medalist honors at the 2026 RedHawk Intercollegiate in his collegiate debut.

Team Performances: Butler's men claimed the 54-hole Yestingsmeier Invitational team title by 16 strokes, finishing at 828 (-12). Sutto and a trio of teammates -- Luke Kruger, Jacob Tarkany and Brooks -- each finished among the Top 10 individually on the final leaderboard.

Butler's women captured the NKU Fall Invitational team title by 22 strokes over IU Indy. The Bulldogs finished at 874 (+22) with rounds of 296, a two-over 286 (which was the best team round of the event), and a 292 Tuesday. IU Indy was second at 896, followed by UIC at 904. There were 11 teams in the field.

Up Next: The Bulldog women host the Butler Fall Invitational at the team's home course -- Highland Golf Club -- Oct. 5-6.

The Bulldog men return to action Oct. 12-13, making the short trip up I-65 to compete in the Purdue Fall Invitational.
