Kooi Leads Butler Women to Dayton Flyer Invitational Title

| By:

The Butler women's golf team captured the team championship at the Dayton Flyer Invitational, which concluded Tuesday in Ohio. The Bulldogs entered the final round after posting the lowest team round in program history, a 271 (-9) in the second round, and held on to secure the team title at NCR Country Club's North Course.

The program-record second round powered the Bulldogs to the team title. Butler posted rounds of 292, 271, and 294 to finish at 857 (+17). That was good for a 16-shot advantage over runner-up Eastern Kentucky. There were 11 teams in the field.

Addi Kooi earned medalist honors, finishing the tournament at 4-under-par 208. Kooi won the event by five strokes, thanks in large part to a second-round 66. Her tournament victory marked Butler's third individual title and Kooi's second over the five fall events for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs placed three golfers inside the Top 10 individually. Treva Dodd finished tied for third at 3-over par 215 after a final-round 73 (+3). Samantha Von Rohr tied for seventh at 7-over par 219. Von Rohr highlighted her tournament with a career-low 66 (-4) in the second round.

Ashley Freitas aced the 147-yard third hole in Tuesday's final round for her first collegiate hole-in-one.

The Butler Women:
1) Addi Kooi, 70-66-72—208 (-4)
T3) Treva Dodd, 73-69-73—215 (+3)

T20) Kylie Eaton, 74-71-77—224 (+14)

The event served as the final tournament of the fall portion of the team's schedule, as the Bulldogs will return to competition in February.
