Maggie Dahl was named the BIG EAST Female Athlete of the Week for swimming as announced by the league office in New York on Wednesday. Dahl, a freshman from Overland Park, Kansas made her collegiate debut at the IU Indianapolis Double Dual this past weekend and swam in four events. 
 
Dahl earned first place in the 200 Free this weekend with a time of 1:53.72. Her time ranks eighth on the all-time top 10 list in program history. In the 100 Free, Dahl finished third with a time of 52.13 which ranked as the eighth best time in program history. She also competed in the 50 Free and placed fourth in the event, posting a time of 24.03. Her times in the 200, 100 and 50 were all BIG EAST qualifying times. 
 
The freshman also swam in the 200 Free Relay and swam the lead-off leg posting a time of 24.07. Dahl opened her Butler career earning swimmer of the meet team honors while also earning her first BIG EAST Weekly award of her career. 
 
Butler will be back in action this weekend as the Dawgs travel to Crawfordsville, Ind. to compete in the Swim Across America event.
